They can be used with equal effect in a basement, a child's playroom or an entryway.  Because there are so many types and designs to choose from, selection can be a fun adventure.

Perhaps you require an ultra-durable flooring material to cover the foyer of your home. Ceramic does a great job. Snow, mud and other outdoor material present no problem. You may wish to add glamour to the bathroom,  giving a rich, relaxing style that is also highly functional. In that case, ceramic, finished hardwood or slate will add just the right touch of luxury.

Tile Installation is Simple

With only minimal instruction, anyone can lay tile straight and level. With just a little care and planning, it's hard to go wrong installing tile. One might think that getting them all to line up properly could be difficult. But simple techniques make the process easy.

By the same thinking, it may seem that grouting the space between the tiles could be hard to do well. What about smearing, bubbles and cracks? Thankfully, due to the excellent materials, laying grout cleanly so that it lasts a long time is a lot easier than it looks.

Tile Flooring is Durable

Once they're installed, even inexpensive vinyl tile will last for many years. Some ceramic tiles in old home and buildings are hundreds of years old and still doing the job beautifully. Durability is a result of both the strength of the material and the modularity of the design. And if damaged, a tile can be replaced. If one should crack due to weather, faulty manufacturing or just randomly, removal and replacement is fairly simple.

Tile Floors are Easy to Maintain

With a quick wet mopping, dirt and food will disappear. Most stains can be wiped up with a sponge. Dust and pet hair can be easily swept away with a broom or a vacuum cleaner. Grout takes a little more effort, but if it's sealed properly a little grout cleaner can keep it sparkling, too.

Because tiles are available in materials such as polished porcelain types, slate and others, there is a type of tile that will appeal to all tastes. Whether you prefer the rich dark look of slate, the cheery look and feel of red brick, or the subtle sheen of a soft pink ceramic, there's a tile material that will please your sense of style.
