Radiant Floor Heat Systems For Your Bedroom

Do you have a bedroom that is hard to heat in the cooler months? Radiant floor heat systems are an easy way to make your bedroom toasty warm, and to have a better experience hopping out of bed on those icy winter mornings.

Have you ever rolled over and swung your legs out of bed... and then suddenly snapped awake when your toes came into contact with a freezing cold floor? Ugh! There's nothing worse than leaving your snug, warm bed only to greet a floor that feels like a layer of frigid ice. And when your floor is cold, your whole body and your whole room feels cold... even if you have your heat on.

If you have tile in your bedroom, winter can be almost painful... even if you have rugs! Infloor heating will make your floors comfortable and warm for your bare feet and toes. Simply installed under your existing floor, you control the heating with a control panel, ranging from a simple on/off switch to a fully programmable thermostat. Programmable is better, since you can set the heat to go on about an hour before you wake up, and your floor is foot-friendly by the time you're ready to start your day. Of course, you can also set it to heat up the floors before you go to bed as well, so that you never have to hop from rug to rug in order to avoid an icy floor.

Of course, electric floor heat isn't just for tiled rooms. You can install a radiant system underneath carpeting, or laminate flooring as well. While laminate flooring doesn't get as chilly as tile, it can still hold cold air. And of course, carpeting is much warmer than any other flooring... that's why so many people have it in their bedrooms in the first place! But using radiant floor heat systems under these types of floors will help keep your entire room warmer overall. Because the heating is coming from the bottom up, the heat is distributed through objects in the room... unlike forced air, which blows warm air into the room where it rises to the ceiling. You will be able to keep your thermostat about two to four degrees lower and save money in the long run on your energy bills. And it will not damage or warp your wood or laminate floors.

If you don't want to go all out and install a full heating system for your floor, there is still another option. You can get an area rug heater. These come in a variety of shapes and sizes that will fit neatly under your area rug without being visible. And they are thin enough that you will not feel them when you walk on the rug. You simply plug these in, and when you are not using them you can remove the lead.

Radiant floor systems are a great way to keep your hard to heat bedroom nice and warm, keep your feet happy on chilly mornings, and even keep your energy costs lower... no matter what type of floor you have!
